Under brand new management from the group behind ALMA, Felix & Barwon Edge. The pub, originally known as The Derwent Hotel for over 100 years and later The Dog Rocks, was established in the 1850s and sits along the banks of the Moorabool River. Only 10 minutes from Geelong, The Batesford Hotel is steeped in local history. The original bluestone Batesford Bridge, the banks of the Moorabool River and the surrounding native bushlands all adjoin the property and can be accessed by patrons from Geelongs best Beer Garden.
The pub has had famous patrons, including Johnny Cash whose portrait hangs on the wall, has been renovated and expanded to include a beautiful event space overlooking the gardens, and has even lived through a fire in 2016 before being lovingly rebuilt by it’s owners at the time.
The pub is the perfect venue for your midweek family meal, through to live music sessions on the weekend to wonderful weddings and intimate events.
It is a popular wedding venue, with wedding ceremonies held in the gardens, followed by wedding receptions in the overlooking event space The Pavilion. It is also a popular venue for engagement parties, christenings, birthday parties and so on. Please visit our Events page to find out more.
